About Us
A little bit of NZ here in the UK
|
At Black Hills we are passionate about our natural coloured organic wool. We have united
our love of high quality, natural coloured yarn with various designs by Tracy Cox in the UK
and other designers from New Zealand. Now you can enjoy knitting wonderful woollen garments
that look-and feel-unique.
The UK company was launched at the Knitting & Stitching Exhibition at the
The Alexander Palace October 2007 to great acclaim. The Blackhills Stand was the only one in
the exhibition showing natural coloured, organic wool.
The wool comes straight from The Black Hills farm in South Island, New Zealand to the UK
company. You can order from us in the UK today and start knitting 14 days
later (or even sooner).

Guarantee
We will exchange or refund, if you really feel that the wool is not what you want. All we ask is that the wool itself is returned to us unused and undamaged.
Our wool is steeped in tradition
Beverley Forrester owns and operates Black Hills Farm, in the unspoilt Hill Country, of South Island, New Zealand. She is a passionate knitter herself, using only wool from her own livestock. Bev is a recognised source of inspiration and knowledge on farming, local history and knitting. Good grass and pasture care combined with high class livestock management has enabled BLACKHILLS to produce premium quality fleece wool for many years.
She specialises in breeding black and natural coloured sheep. Her Corriedales and Romneys produce an unrivalled range of undyed yarn colours and textures, creating the unique appearance of Black Hills garments. Beverley is also an international wool and sheep judge and received the Network Award at the Business Woman of the Year in 2003.
The farm itself was founded by pioneers in 1860. The woolshed, stables and pioneer cottage have been authentically restored to their original condition using local materials.
Black Hills Corriedale and Romney wool is spun into premium grade yarn for knitting and crocheting as well as produced as wool wadding for quilters.
Black Hills Farm regularly welcomes tour parties and visitors looking for an insight into what life was like for the early New Zealand settlers.
Why not visit the farm next time you're in New Zealand in person and see for yourself. Beverley loves visitors and truly enjoys meeting knitters who have used her wool.
